Welcome to Daily Roundup, your source for all of the news, rumours, and headlines from around the NHL.

Penguins interested in Jack Roslovic

Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman says the Pittsburgh Penguins are “very interested” in acquiring forward Jack Roslovic from the Winnipeg Jets. Roslovic, 23, is unsigned and has asked for a trade, Freidman reports.

“The Pittsburgh Penguins have started the season 0-2 and we know [GM] Jim Rutherford is not afraid,” said Friedman. “I also believe they’re one of the teams who’s very interested. We’ll see if there’s a match.”

Roslovic is coming off a season that saw him score career-high in goals (12), assists (17) and points (29), all the while playing in a bottom-six role.

Tim Stützle day-to-day

Rookie sensation Tim Stützle is day-to-day with what’s being called a minor injury and will miss Tuesday’s game against Winnipeg.

“It’s just a little nagging, minor injury that’s more of a day-to-day thing,” said Sens head coach D.J. Smith Tuesday morning. “We’re just being more cautious than anything. We expect him back shortly.”

Stützle scored his first NHL goal Saturday night against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Power-play woes

Edmonton’s power-play had a brutal night Monday going 0/7 with the extra man. They generated only eight shots on the power-play, too, but will have a chance to right the ship Wednesday against the Toronto Maple Leafs. They’ve allowed eight power-play goals on 17 chances, both the second-highest in the league.

There’s a few other teams struggling on the powerplay early. The Minnesota Wild, for one, have had 16 opportunities and are yet to score. The Vancouver Canucks (15 chances) and St. Louis Blues (nine chances) also have yet to score.

Dougie Hamilton’s shot streak ends

A great streak for Dougie Hamilton has come to an end. For the first time in 296 games, Hamilton didn’t record a shot last night against the Nashville Predators. Maybe he can get back up to that number again.
