DailyFaceoff/Corsica NHL Bets (December 21st)

The Corsica NHL betting predictions stayed hot on Wednesday, going two for two on its more probable and valuable bets. Corsica was able to find value despite there being just two games on the slate. They gave the Habs a 69.65% chance of covering a +1.5-goal spread in Colorado, the most probable bet of the night. Montreal carried a 1-0 lead into the second period before Carey Price gifted the Avs the tying goal. They would strike again just 35 seconds into the third as Gabriel Landeskog netted the eventual game-winner. Thankfully for our readers, the Avalanche were unable to add an empty-netter and the game finished at 2-1, giving the Habs the win against the spread. Corsica’s most valuable bet was a lock from the get-go as the Penguins and Capitals never even came close to going over 6.5 goals.

With just three days left before the Holiday break, Corsica takes aim at tonight’s three-game slate. I’ve highlighted the most probable and valuable bets below. You can find predictions for all of tonight’s games here. Good luck!

Highest Value

Sabres @ Capitals – Over/Under | Under 6.5 (-110)

Both of these teams can struggle to get scoring from the depth of their lineups, so it’s no surprise to see Corsica peg the under for the Sabres and Capitals as the most valuable bet on the slate. While the Jack Eichel line is a force to be reckoned with, Buffalo’s second and third lines have posted laughable numbers at 5v5 this season. They’ve both been greatly out-chanced by their opposition and don’t project to generate many scoring chances tonight against the Caps. The Eichel line has even overachieved in some regards. Their lofty goal totals aren’t reflected by the amount of scoring chances they generate, just 24 per 60 minutes at 5v5. If Washington can keep them in check tonight, it’s hard to imagine the Sabres scoring more than a couple goals in this one.

Buffalo’s best bet at slowing down the Capitals’ mighty attack is Carter Hutton.  Hutton has done an admirable job this season as Buffalo’s number-one, posting a .917 SV% in 24 appearances. Another solid performance from him and the Sabres’ eight-ranked penalty-kill should be enough to keep the Capitals from going off in this one. Corsica gives this bet a 64.62% chance of coming to fruition.

Highest Probability

Sabres @ Capitals – Moneyline | WAS (-175)

We’re not leaving the capital for this one. With a 65.57% chance of hitting, the Caps on the moneyline is the most likely bet to hit tonight. Washington’s power-play speaks for itself and they boast a significant advantage over the Sabres at even strength. As I mentioned above, it’s hard to imagine the Sabres doing much offensively tonight. Braden Holtby is looking like his old self again and is fresh off another strong performance against the Penguins on Wednesday. He should be able to take care of the few chances he does see tonight.
