DailyFaceoff/Corsica NHL Bets (February 14th)

The Corsica NHL betting predictions looks to keep things rolling after a perfect outing on Wednesday. Corsica went all in on the Ducks last night, taking them on the moneyline as the most valuable play and them covering the spread as the most likely. Anaheim answered the bell in their first game of the (second) post-Carlyle era, riding a spectacular performance from Kevin Boyle to a 1-0 victory over the Canucks. The 26-year-old netminder made some sort of impression in his first career start, turning away all 35 shots he faced.

Corsica turns its attention now to Thursday’s eleven-game slate. I’ve highlighted their most valuable and probable bets below. You can find predictions for all of tonight’s games here. Good luck!

Highest Value

Avalanche @ Jets – Over/Under | Under 6.5 (+110)

You won’t find better bang for your buck on tonight’s slate than the under for the Jets and Avs. Caught up in all the superstardom on both sides of the matchup, the oddsmakers overlooked some key recent-trends in setting the over/under at 6.5. Colorado’s dynamic first line has struggled to maintain their explosive scoring rate. Nathan MacKinnon, Gabriel Landeskog, and Mikko Rantanen have combined for just three goals over Colorado’s last eight games. Colorado’s scored just 16 goals as a team over that span, with their lack of scoring depth on full display. They are going to have a hard time scoring more than a couple times a game without their top line doing the heavy-lifting.

On the flip side of things, the Jets have struggled to generate quality chances at even strength all season. They are the sixth-worst team in the NHL in terms of generating high-danger chances. Without a legitimate second-line centre, Winnipeg can’t generate the shots and chances Patrik Laine needs to be productive. The Jets’ offense mirrors that of the Avalanche at this point; they go as the Scheifele line goes. If Colorado can maintain the likes of Scheifele and Blake Wheeler tonight, this game won’t even come close to the 6.5 goal mark. Corsica gives the under a likelihood of 66.03%.

Highest Probability

Flames @ Panthers – Spread | FLA +1.5 (-216)

According to Corsica, with a probability of 71.58%, there isn’t a safer bet on tonight’s slate than Florida covering the spread. The Panthers made some important tweaks to their lineup that should provide a significant boost in tonight’s game against the Flames. Jonathan Huberdeau has jumped up to join Aleksander Barkov and Frank Vatrano on the top line. Barkov has underperformed at even strength this season, but he’s been at his best with Huberdeau on his wing. It’s far from an easy matchup, but the two of them should be able to maintain Calgary’s dominant first line tonight.  Mike Hoffman also gets a slight promotion as he re-enters Florida’s top-six. He’ll skate on the right wing of Vincent Trocheck and Evgeni Dadonov tonight. Trocheck and Hoffman own a 57.01 CF% and a 55.95 SCF% together at 5v5 this season. Expect them to get the better of the Mikael Backlund line tonight.

Mike Smith is expected to be in goal for Calgary tonight. The 36-year-old owns an .889 SV% on the year. He’s surrendered three goals or more in 17 of his 25 starts this season. He will be especially vulnerable tonight on the penalty-kill, where he owns an ugly .811 SV%. Only the Tampa Bay Lightning have scored more power-play goals than the Panthers this season.
