DailyFaceoff/Corsica NHL Bets (January 4th)

The Corsica NHL betting predictions had a perfect night on Wednesday, nailing both its high-value and probability plays. According to Corsica, no bet offered better value on last night’s slate than the Canucks and Canadiens finishing under six goals. An unfortunate injury to Elias Pettersson made this bet an absolute lock. The Canucks were unable to get anything going offensively and ultimately fell to the Habs by a score of 2-0. According to Corsica, the Blues covering a +1.5-goal spread at home against the Capitals was the most likely bet to hit. Even without Vladimir Tarasenko in the lineup St. Louis steamrolled the Capitals at even strength. They outshot Washington 42-25 on route to a 5-2 victory.

It’s a relatively busy Friday night slate with seven games on tap. I’ve highlighted Corsica’s high value and probability plays below. You can find predictions for all of tonight’s games here. Good luck!

Highest Value

Jets @ Penguins – Over/Under | Under 6.5 (+103)

As far as high-value plays go, this one comes with some degree of certainty. Corsica gives this game a 58.7% chance of finishing with less than 6.5 goals. While the average viewer might expect to see a lot of offense in this one given the firepower on each team, the matchups suggest we could see a tight game at even strength. The top lines should be squared off against one another for most of the night. The Scheifele line is giving up just 24 scoring chances per 60 this season, and Sidney Crosby has notably stepped up his defensive game this year. The Penguins surrender a respectable 26 scoring chances per 60 with their first line on the ice. This figures to be a low-event contest, and the under should be a safe play assuming we don’t see an influx of power-plays.

Highest Probability

Blue Jackets @ Hurricanes – Spread | CAR +1.5 (-274)

The Hurricanes are one of the best 5v5 teams in the NHL, so it’s no surprise to see them getting some love from Corsica tonight. The emergence of Lucas Wallmark and Jordan Martinook has helped Carolina get by without Jordan Staal. Wallmark and Martinook are averaging a remarkable 35 scoring chances per 60 while surrendering just 22 to their opposition. They are a formidable shutdown line capable of handling the more difficult matchups at 5v5. They should be able to maintain Columbus’ dynamic top-line tonight, allowing Sebastian Aho and Teuvo Teravainen to go to work against the depth of the Blue Jackets. Corsica gives Carolina a 74.79% chance of beating the spread tonight.
