DailyFaceoff/Corsica NHL Bets (January 9th)

The Corsica NHL betting predictions stayed hot on Tuesday with another perfect outing. Carolina beating a +1.5-goal spread was pegged as the most probable bet on the slate. The Hurricanes did us one better, riding a two-point effort from Greg McKegg to a 4-3 victory over the Isles. In a bit of a surprising play, the under for the Lightning and Blue Jackets game was thought to be the most valuable bet. The Lightning went off again but a 31-save shutout from Andre Vasilevskiy meant this game was never even close to going over.

There are only three games on the slate tonight but still plenty of spots to like. I’ve highlighted Corsica’s most valuable and probable bets below. You can find predictions for all of tonight’s games here. Good luck!

Highest Value

Avalanche @ Flames – Over/Under | Under 6.5 (+108)

With a 63.58% chance of hitting, the under for the Flames and Avalanche is one of the most valuable bets we’ve seen this season. The game features two of the top lines in the NHL so it’s no surprise to see the over/under set as lofty as it is. There’s reason to expect a relatively slow night for the Avalanche’s stars, though. Calgary can set the matchups as the home team which should result in Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen seeing plenty of time against the Mikael Backlund line at even strength. The Flames are surrendering just 44 shot attempts and 23 scoring chances per 60 with their second line on the ice.

Even if Colorado’s top line can crack the Backlund line, they’ll have to deal with David Rittich in goal. The 26-year-old netminder won his third straight start on Monday and boasts a .921 SV% on the season. He’s allowed two goals or less in 14 of his 22 starts this season. A half-decent performance from either Semyon Varlamov or Philipp Grubauer is all this game will need to hit the under.

Highest Probability

Senators @ Ducks – Moneyline | ANA (-202)

According to Corsica, with just under a 70% chance of hitting, the Ducks on the Moneyline is the safest bet on tonight’s slate. Rickard Rakell is expected to return to the Ducks’ lineup tonight, providing a huge boost offensively. Rakell’s return finally gives the Ducks a legitimate complement to Ryan Getzlaf on the top line. The Ryan Kesler line should draw the more difficult matchup against the Senators’ top line tonight, allowing Getzlaf and Rakell to go to work against the depth of the Sens. They should provide all of the offense necessary for John Gibson tonight.

There is no stronger reason to believe in the Ducks tonight, or on any given night, than Gibson. Gibson has a plus .920 SV% for the fourth-straight season and is finally starting to be recognized as one of the best goalies in the world. Ottawa gets outshot 37-29 on average, a recipe for disaster against a goalie of Gibson’s caliber. Throw in Matt Duchene’s continued absence and it’s easy to see why Corsica is so high on the Ducks tonight.
