DailyFaceoff DFS Value Plays – January 6th
Hinostroza-Vinnie

There are six games tonight and there seems to be a number of value players who are slated to play key roles for their teams this evening. Below I’ve listed a value player at each position.

This Cheat Sheet includes DraftKings and FanDuel salary as well as SaberSim dfs projections. These projections don’t tell you exactly what’s going to happen. One game samples have too much randomness to pin down exact predictions. Rather, the projections represent what a player’s performance would look like on average if that particular matchup were played over and over again. There is a wide range of possible outcomes, and the projections represent the average of those possibilities for each player.

Pavel Zacha (C) – vs. TOR – (DK-$3,700 / $3,500)
SaberSim Projection: DK-2.38 / FD-8.66

Zacha hasn’t picked up a point since November 26th, going 11 straight games without a point. Zacha goes against what I usually look for in a Daily Fantasy option, because he doesn’t shoot a lot or at least hasn’t been recently. However, he will start on a line with Taylor Hall and P.A. Parenteau as well as skate on the top power play unit, which makes him an interesting value centre.

Vinnie Hinostroza (W) – vs. CAR – (DK-$3,700 / FD-$3,800)
SaberSim Projection: DK-2.29 / FD-8.17

Hinostroza had a slow start to the season, but has picked it up recently, scoring three goals and two assists in his last nine games. While those aren’t elite offensive numbers by any stretch, Hinostroza has averaged 3.1 shots on goal per game over that span and tonight he will be moved up onto a line with Jonathan Toews and Marian Hossa.

Kevin Fiala (W) – @ FLA – (DK-$3,800 / $3,700)
SaberSim Projection: DK-2.28 / FD-7.93

Fiala is crazy talented and will continue to skate on the Predators’ top line with Filip Forsberg and Ryan Johansen, which is a great spot for a former first round pick trying to stick in the top-6. Fiala has one goal, one assist and is averaging 3.5 shots on goal per game in his last four games. The Panthers aren’t strangers to giving up goals, making Fiala and the Predators solid plays tonight.

Michal Kempny (D) – vs. CAR – (DK-$3,000 / $3,300)
SaberSim Projection: DK-1.57 / FD-5.36

Kempny won’t see a lot of power play time, but that hasn’t slowed him down recently. Kempny has two goals, two assists, five shots and five blocked shots in his last four games. He appears to have landed a permanent spot for the foreseeable future and should continue to play close to 17 minutes per night alongside Brent Seabrook.

Thomas Greiss (G) – @ COL – (DK-$7,500 / $8,400)
SaberSim Projection: DK-4.84 / FD-19.36

Greiss and the Islanders are well rested having not played since New Year’s Eve. The get back into action against the NHL’s worst team in Colorado. Greiss is coming off of a win over the Jets and has won three in a row while stopping 108 of 113 shots (.956 SV%). He is one of the best options, but also one of the cheapest.
