It’s been a rough go to start the season for the Washington Capitals on the injury front. They’ve faced a slew of injuries keeping guys like Nicklas Backstrom, Lars Eller, Anthony Mantha and most notably, T.J. Oshie out of the lineup.

The latter of the group had missed nearly a month with a foot injury from blocking a shot on Oct. 27 and now, the team is placing him back on the injured reserve.

While Oshie is believed to have healed up from his initial injury, Caps head coach Peter Laviolette said a new problem has cropped up.

This was something that was from last night, something different (than his foot injury),” Laviolette said. “It popped up really late in the (Sharks) game (on Nov. 20th) so he didn’t play the last few shifts there.”

Oshie’s last shift in that game with roughly seven minutes left in the game.

On top of Oshie going down, Conor Sheary has also been injured. He missed a Sunday game against Seattle with something that Laviolette described it as “something as he was getting ready,” and it’s left Sheary day-to-day.

The Capitals have since called up Michael Sgarbossa and Beck Malenstyn from their AHL affiliate Hershey Bears.
