DFS Lines to Target: 10/22/19
It’s a packed Tuesday night in the NHL with 10 games on tap for Draft King’s main slate. Edmonton’s top-line was shutout in their last outing against Winnipeg and will be looking to get back on track against Minnesota. Canucks vs. Red Wings and Boston vs. Toronto and are also games with value.
I’ve highlighted my top high-priced, medium-priced, and value stacks for Tuesday’s action to help you out. Best of luck!
High-Priced
Edmonton 1 – Leon Draisaitl ($7,900), Connor McDavid ($8,200), Zack Kassian ($4,500)
Edmonton’s top line doesn’t typically stay quiet for long and they will be eager to get back on the scoresheet after being held to just one assist (Draisaitl) in their last two games. The Wild are allowing four goals per game this season and have earned just two wins in eight contests.
The Oilers top line is operating at a 52 CF% and don’t have too hard of a matchup going up against Minnesota’s Zach Parise, Mikko Koivu and Jason Zucker line. McDavid never went consecutive games without a point last season and turned in some of his best performances following games in which he was held off the scoresheet. The Wild are really struggling to contain opposing team’s top talent, and Edmonton’s top line should bounce back with a very productive night Tuesday.
Medium-Priced
Vancouver 2 – J.T. Miller ($6,000), Elias Pettersson ($5,600), Brock Boeser ($6,200)
The Canucks “second line” has yet to truly take off this season, and a matchup against a struggling Red Wings team has great breakout potential. Pettersson had a pair of assists against the Rangers on Sunday, while Boeser scored a goal and Miller had five shots on goal. The Canucks power play has been a concern in the early goings, but it’s trending in the right direction after Quinn Hughes was moved to the top unit Sunday and Bo Horvat tallied a pp goal off a Pettersson helper.
Detroit has the 7th worst penalty kill unit in the league and are operating at just 72 percent. These two teams met last week and Vancouver’s power play looked lethal with Miller potting two goals with the man advantage. Pettersson had three assists in that game and is gaining momentum in his sophomore season.
Detroit has lost four straight games and have been outscored 17-5 in that span. The Canucks second line owns an impressive 63.71 CF%, and should also do damage at both even strength and on the power play vs. Detroit.
Value Stack
Boston 2 – Jake DeBrusk ($4,200), Charlie Coyle ($3,600), Brett Ritchie ($2,800)
Boston’s top line of David Pastrnak, Brad Marchand and Patrice Bergeron always has value against Toronto, so take them into consideration if you aren’t big on spending the money for McDavid and Draisaitl tonight. I see value in Boston’s second line for this matchup with Toronto, however.
Jake DeBrusk finally scored his first goal of the season against the Maple Leafs in Toronto on Saturday and could go on a run. He had a very active game against Toronto, logging a season-high 21:13 of ice time and firing five shots on goal. Coyle has stepped into into the second-line center role with David Krejci injured. Coyle also saw a season-high amount of ice time on Saturday (19:44) and chipped in a helper on the power play. Feel free to leave out Brett Ritchie in favour of a Coyle-DeBrusk mini-stack, but Ritchie did have an assist on the second power-play unit on Saturday and is only priced at $2,800 tonight.
Toronto heads into Boston having already lost in OT to Columbus the night before. The DeBrusk line should see a mix of Toronto’s second and third line and should take advantage of some tired opposing forwards.
