Every so often I will be putting out a list of players I think that not many people know about but may want to at least look at for their fantasy hockey leagues. These are players that might not be viable everyday starters but when they’re hot, they’re worth picking up.

Forwards

  • Eric Fehr (W, Wsh) – Fehr is a former first round draft pick and through seventeen games he has recorded seven goals and four assists.  Fehr may finally be finding his touch, if he can stay healthy, he should quietly have a productive year.
  • Steven Reinprecht (C,FLA) – Reinprecht has twenty points through twenty-six games this year, netting ten goals and ten assists. Very viable fantasy option as a second or third center.
  • James Neal (LW,DAL) – Neal has been consistent all year recording twenty-two points in twenty-three games. Eleven goals and eleven assists tell the story here for the twenty-two year old. If for some reason hes on the waiver wire, pick him up now.

Defenseman

  • Stephane Robidas (DAL) – Robidas has never been much of a fantasy stud or even really thought about besides depth, but this season he is quickly becoming a legitmate fantasy option for your blueline.  He already has seven goals and eleven assists.

  • Jonathan Ericsson (DET) – Filling in for the injured Kronwall, Detroit fans were hoping Ericsonn could step up and continue the offensive contribution you can usually expect from Kronwall’s game. He hasn’t picked up a goal all of November, so he should be on your waiver wire or able to be traded for if you need blueliner depth.

  • Cam Barker (CHI) – Whenever a team has multiple offensive defenseman sometimes one gets overlooked in fantasy hockey. Barker only has twelve points on the year but four of them are goals.

Goalies

  • Pekka Rinne (NSH) – Two shutouts on the year and a .913 sv% with eleven wins makes Rinne a decent no.2 goaltender for your fantasy team.
  • Semyon Varlamov (WSH) – .919 sv% and playing behind one of the leagues most potent offenses. Looks to be the new starting man in the capital. Very good no.1 option.
