To help you build the ideal one-day lineup here are my top centres, wingers, defensemen, goalies and value picks for the March 1st games.

CENTRES

Steven Stamkos – @ FLA ($8,800)

It is always nice to have the NHL’s most dynamic scorer in your lineup. He comes into Sunday with six goals and one assist in his last seven games. Today he will face the Panthers in game-2 of a back-to-back with Al Montoya getting the nod. Now that’s a matchup.

Jason Spezza – vs. ANA ($7,000)

This isn’t the best matchup, but Spezza has been out of his mind since Tyler Seguin went down with a knee injury. Spezza has four goals and five assists (9 points) in his last seven games and had 16 points (6G /10A) in 13 games in February.

Nicklas Backstrom – vs. TOR ($6,200)

Backstrom has recorded at least one point in 62% of games this season. The longest he has went without a point is three games and that is where he sits right now. So, he is due for at least one point and with the Maple Leafs in town, he could be in for a big night.

Jeff Carter – @ WPG ($5,600)

The Kings have had a tough time scoring on the road this season, but they have been red-hot recently and I like their matchup this afternoon. Carter comes relatively inexpensive and has registered four goals and six assists (10 points) in his last nine games.

Marcus Johansson – vs. TOR ($3,600)

Johansson is playing with Backstrom and Ovechkin right now, so there aren’t many cheap first liners with that kind of talent around them available. Johansson has no points in his last four games, but tonight’s matchup and line mates should start March off on a good note.

WINGERS

Alex Ovechkin – vs. TOR ($9,200)

Ovechkin was held off of the scoresheet when I recommended him on Friday, I’m betting that wont’ happen again. He had 17 points (10G / 7A) and 68 shots on goal (4.86 S/PG) in 14 games in February.

Patric Hornqvist – vs. CBJ ($7,300)

I like Stamkos better than Sidney Crosby today, but if you like Sid, Hornqvist is an excellent selection as well. There is no word whether Sergei Bobrovsky will start for the Blue Jackets or not, but it shouldn’t matter either way. Hornqvist has three-game goal streak going, scoring four times with one assist over that span.

Ondrej Palat – @ FLA ($5,500)

Palat has scored four goals with three assists (7 points) in his last six games. This is a superb matchup and taking Palat allows you spread your Lightning throughout the lineup.

Ryan Callahan – @ FLA ($5,400)

Callahan should be another beneficiary of a great matchup—playing with Stamkos doesn’t hurt either. He has three goals, two assists and 19 shots in his last six games.

Tyler Toffoli – @ WPG ($4,800)

Paired up with Carter, this duo is very dangerous and come at a reasonable price. Toffoli has no points in his last four games, but has fired 15 total shots in those games. Despite the recent cold stretch, Toffoli still has six goals and three assists in his last nine games.

DEFENSEMEN

Mike Green – vs. TOR ($4,700)

I put all my eggs in the Capitals basket on Friday and it didn’t pan out. So what do you do when that happens? Go back to the well. Green is the second best option on the Washington blue line, but comes way cheaper than John Carlson. Green has a ton of offensive ability and he has put that on display in the past vs. Toronto. He has two goals and 16 assists (18 points) in 30 career games vs. the Leafs.

Anton Stralman – @ FLA ($3,500)

Stralman and Garrison split the duties on the Lighting’s power-play, so why not go with the cheaper of the two options? He come in with six assists in his last seven contests and 30 points in 63 games on the season.

Christian Ehrhoff – vs. CBJ ($3,100)

Ehrhoff played 18:34 in his first game back from a concussion. Pittsburgh had three days off between games, so Ehrhoff should be well rested to take on a Blue Jackets team who played last night. Expect him to start taking on a bigger power-play role again.
