CENTRES

Jonathan Toews – vs. EDM ( $8,000)

Matchups don’t really get any better than this. The Oilers are 28th in the NHL in defending their own net and Toews has picked up the slack while Patrick Kane Has been out. He has scored five goals and one assist in his last five games.

Kyle Turris -vs. BUF ($6,000)

The Senators are rolling right now and Turris has been an offensive catalyst. He he six goals and eight assists (14 points) in his last 10 games. I think that classifies as hot and a matchup vs. Chad Johnson and the Sabres is just begging for more points.

Henrik Zetterberg – vs. CGY  ($5,800)

Zetterberg showed no ill effects from the head injury that cost him four games on Wednesday. He picked up an assist on both of the Red Wings goals in a 2-1 win OT win over the Rangers. The Flames are on a back-to-back, coming off of a huge win in Boston last night. Tonight has the makings of a let down.

Mika Zibanejad – vs. BUF ($4,500)

Zibanejad has not been as hot as Kyle Turris, but he has been extremely solid. Ziba has registered three goals and six assists (9 points) in his last 10 games. Paired with the Senators leading scorer Mike Hoffman, is a cheap combo against a weak Buffalo team.

Mikael Granlund – @ CAR ($4,300)

The Wild are as hot as they come since acquiring Devan Dubnyk from Arizona. Granlund, who centre the top-line has one goals six assists (7 points) in his last seven games. He is not a goal scorer, but a strong setup man for Zach Parise and Jason Pominville, two prominent goal scorers.

WINGERS

Marian Hossa – vs. EDM ($6,600)

Hossa has eight goals and five assists (13 points) in his last 12 games. On top of that, the Blackhawks draws an unreal matchup vs. the Oilers—in their first two meetings, Hossa has one goal and five assists (6 points). Yep, six points in two games.

Jason Pominville – @ CAR ($5,500)

Pominville has three goals and 17 shots on goal in his last three contests. Paired with Granlund is a nice, cheap Wild stack with a strong matchup in Carolina. The high volume of shots recently assures Pominville picks up at least a few fantasy points, with the potential of a point or two.

Mike Hoffman – vs. BUF ($5,000)

The 25-year-old left Wednesday’s game early, but is expected to play tonight vs. the Sabres .He has six goals five assists (11 points) in his last 10 games and comes much cheaper than Bobby Ryan, despite having more goals (less points though).

Kris Versteeg – vs. EDM ($4,100)

Since returning from his hand injury, Versteeg has four goals and 18 shots in 10 games. You would like to see him shoot more, but with a great matchup and great linemates (Toews + Hossa) he is a solid, cheap winger.

Justin Abdelkader – vs. CGY ($3,900)

Abdelkader scored a goal in the first game with Zetterberg back. He is having a career-year and is pushing for his first 20-goal season. Pairing him with Zetty leaves you a ton of money to play with. Abby comes in with two goals and two assists in his last six games.

DEFENSEMEN

Erik Karlsson – vs. BUF ($8,000)

Karlson is ridiculous for a defenseman. He has posted three goals and 11 assists (14 points) in his last 11 games. Tonight the matchup can’t get any better and if you’re going with a Senators stack, them Karlsson makes for a sweet D pick (obviously).

Niklas Kronwall vs. CGY ($4,400)

Kronwall is the anchor on the NHL’s top-ranked power-play unit. He has one goal and five assists (6 points) in his last six games. Of those six points, three have come with the man advantage. Kronwall has also been much more effective at The Joe—registering 22 points (5G / 17A) in 30 games at home.

Kimmo Timonen – vs. EDM ($2,500)

$2,500 is as cheap as they come and with the glorious matchup, Timonen makes for a great gamble. He is very offensive and is he is playing with Brent Seabrook. He is also expected to start seeing power-play time.

GOALIES

Corey Crawford – vs. EDM ($8,600) – CONFIRMED

Crawford has won each of his last two starts and posted 24 saves in a 7-1 win over the Oilers in their last meeting. This should be a nearly guaranteed victory for the Blackhawks, making Crawford a safe option.

Devan Dubnyk – @ CAR ($8,500) – CONFIRMED

Dubnyk will make his 23rd straight start. He has been unbelievable since arriving in Minnesota. Fatigue might be an issue, but the way he is playing right now, he is worth the risk and the salary. He was won four in a row and six of his last seven with a 1.42 GAA, .943 SV% and one shutout.

Jimmy Howard – vs. CGY ($7,800) – CONFIRMED

After a couple of rough outings, Howard has bounced back with two straight wins—over those two contests he has stopped 59 of 62 shots (.952 SV%). Tonight he faces a hard-working Flames team, who are on the tail-end of a back-to-back.
