Here’s a quick explanation on how to build your lineup an play! You have $50,000 in Salary space, to build a team that consists of 2C, 3W, 2D, 1G and 1 Util. Below you will find how skaters and goalies scoring works!

• Players will accumulate points as follows:

  • Goal = +3 PTS
  • Assist = +2 PTS
  • Shot on Goal = +0.5 PTS
  • Blocked Shot = +0.5 PTS
  • Short Handed Point Bonus (Goal/Assist) = +1 PTS
  • Shootout Goal = +0.2 PTS
  • Hat Trick Bonus = +1.5 PTS

• Goalies only will accumulate points as follows:

  • Win = +3 PTS
  • Save = +0.2 PTS
  • Goal Against = -1 PTS
  • Shutout Bonus = +2 PTS

• Goalie Scoring Notes:

  • Goalies WILL receive points for all stats they accrue, including goals and assists.
  • The Goalie Shutout Bonus is credited to goalies if they complete the entire game with 0 goals allowed in regulation + overtime. Shootout goals will not prevent a shutout. Goalie must complete the entire game to get credit for a shutout.

Below I’ve listed my top DFS plays at each position as well as a few sample DraftKings lineup for tonight.

 Centres

Aleksander Barkov – @ CGY – $5,800

The Panthers top line is on fire. Plain and simple. Since December 15th, Barkov has scored six goals with nine assists (15 points) in 13 games. Over that span, he had at least one point in 10 of 13 games and comes into tonight with five-game point streak. Despite his recent hot stretch, his salary remains below the $6,000 mark. Even better for Barkov and his line? Jonas Hiller will make his first start since December 12th.

Brayden Schenn – vs. BOS – $4,200

The Flyers recently traded a Schenn, but it looks like they kept the right one. Brayden and Sean Couturier have been dominant for Philly recently. Schenn has two goals and four assists (4.5 FPPG) in his last four games. The Flyers also draw a nice matchup vs. a struggling Bruins team—they’ve lost four of five.

Sean Couturier – vs. BOS – $3,900

As nice as Schenn’s numbers sound, Couturier has been even better. He has six goals and six assists (12 points) in his last 10 games and he has averaged 5.2 DraftKings points over his last six contests. His $3,900 salary makes him an excellent option while he is riding this hot streak.

Wingers

Mike Hoffman – @ ANA – $6,000

Hoffman is a dart throw pick tonight. He has just three goals in his last 12 games, but scored on Sunday, which gives him two in his last four games. Tonight the Senators will face Frederik Andersen, who hasn’t had a tonne of playing time lately. Hoffman’s slower than normal scoring rate should keep him off of most people’s radar tonight.

Jaromir Jagr – @ CGY – $5,600

The ageless wonder and his mid-20’s line mates are fantastic. Jagr has five goals and two assists in his last seven games, which has seen him average 3.7 FPPG. Again, Hiller will be rusty tonight and this is the hottest line in the NHL. Use that to your advantage.

Jonathan Huberdeau – @ CGY – $5,600

The third member of that line is Huberdeau, who is a gifted playmaker, but he has picked up three goals in his last four games. Over that same 13-game stretch as Barkov, Hubderdeau has four goals and 10 assists (14 points)—he has at least one point in nine of those 13 games. Ride the hot streak.

Defensemen

Erik Karlsson – @ ANA – $7,500

It probably doesn’t surprise you, but over the last two weeks, Karlsson has averaged the most DraftKings points among tonight’s available defensemen. He hasn’t scored in nine games, but it’s not for a lack of trying. He has 30 shots over that span and has tacked on eight assists, to give him 36 on the season. He has an extremely high floor and if  you can safe money elsewhere, he is a great option tonight.

Dion Phaneuf – vs. CBJ – $4,200

I probably could have recommended a few other Maple Leafs tonight, but Phaneuf is the only one who made the list. They catch the Blue Jackets on the wrong end of a back-to-back and with some trouble between the pipes. Phaneuf hasn’t racked up a tonne of points recently (two points in last seven) but he shoots a bunch, which provides him with a stable floor at a nice price.

David Savard – @ TOR – $3,900

Savard is one of my favourite fantasy defensemen because he does it all. He scored his first goal of the season last night and has three points (1G / 2A) in five games since returning from an ankle injury. Over that stretch he has posted 3.5, 3, 3.5, 4.5 and 4.5 DraftKings points (3.8 average). That type of night-to-night consistency has my buying in.

Goalies

Roberto Luongo – @ CGY – $8,200

There’s a lot to like about Luongo tonight. The Panthers are on fire. Luongo is playing some of the best hockey of his career—ranks fourth in wins, fifth in SV% and seventh in GAA and tonight he faces a team he is very familiar with, (26-13-3 in his career vs. CGY) who is starting a rusty netminder.

Steve Mason – vs. BOS – $7,100

Mason has had a rollercoaster of a season, but has won two in a row and is coming off of a shutout in his last outing. Tonight he takes on a Bruins team that has lost four of five while averaging just 1.80 goals per game.

James Reimer – vs. CBJ – $6,500

Reimer hasn’t played a lot lately, but when he’s played he has played very well. Played. Sorry I just wanted to use the word Played one more time. Tonight he faces a Blue Jackets team on the tail end of a back-to-back. Reimer is 3-2-3 with a 2.37 GAA and .927 SV% on home ice this season.
