DraftKings Fantasy Hockey Cheat Sheet: March 11th
cheat-sheet

There are six games on the NHL calendar tonight, which is more than we’re used to seeing on a Wednesday night. There are a few teams that come in on a back-to-back and a bunch of injury concerns, which is bound to make it an interesting night on DraftKings.

Here’s a quick explanation on how to build your lineup an play! You have $50,000 in Salary space, to build a team that consists of 2C, 3W, 2D, 1G and 1 Util. Below you will find how skaters and goalies scoring works!

• Players will accumulate points as follows:

  • Goal = +3 PTS
  • Assist = +2 PTS
  • Shot on Goal = +0.5 PTS
  • Blocked Shot = +0.5 PTS
  • Short Handed Point Bonus (Goal/Assist) = +1 PTS
  • Shootout Goal = +0.2 PTS
  • Hat Trick Bonus = +1.5 PTS

• Goalies only will accumulate points as follows:

  • Win = +3 PTS
  • Save = +0.2 PTS
  • Goal Against = -1 PTS
  • Shutout Bonus = +2 PTS

• Goalie Scoring Notes:

  • Goalies WILL receive points for all stats they accrue, including goals and assists.
  • The Goalie Shutout Bonus is credited to goalies if they complete the entire game with 0 goals allowed in regulation + overtime. Shootout goals will not prevent a shutout. Goalie must complete the entire game to get credit for a shutout.

Below I’ve listed my top DFS line stacks, defensemen and goalies as well as a few sample DraftKings lineup for tonight

Line Stacks

Andrew Ladd ($5,400) – Jonathan Toews ($6,000) – Marian Hossa ($5,300) – @ Dallas
This line will get a big boost tonight with Hossa returning from a leg injury. It will be the first time these three play together all season, but they’ve been practicing together for the last few days, so no rust should be expected on the part of Hossa. Of course the Patrick Kane line makes for a great stack tonight as well, but I like the price tags of these three just a little more. Toews is on a five-game point streak, picking up three goals, two assists and 4.1 DraftKings points per game (FPPG). Those five games are the first five games that Ladd has played with Chicago and he has two goals, two assists and 3.5 FPPG of his own since coming over from Winnipeg. They’ll take on a Dallas team that has lost five of their last seven while giving up an average of 3.43 goals per game. There’s going to be scoring in this game and lets hope it’s from the Toews line.

Ondrej Palat ($4,600) – Tyler Johnson ($5,600) – Nikita Kucherov ($6,500) – vs. Philadelphia

The lines known as “The Triplets” was expected to do massive things coming into the season, but have not performed to expectations to this point. However, this line has caught fire at an important time for the Lightning. Johnson has three goals, four assists and 5.2 FPPG in his last five games. Not too far behind him is the value option on this line, Palat, who has five goals, one assist and 3.6 FPPG over his last seven. Lastly, it is hard to lump Kucherov into the same group as those two because he has actually had a strong year, playing with Steve Stamkos for a good portion of the season. He has on goal, four assists and 4.1 FPPG in his last five—the Lightning played terrible in their meeting with the Flyers on Monday, but back on home ice they’ll look for revenge tonight.

Johnny Gaudreau ($6,900) – Sean Monahan ($5,800) – Michael Ferland ($3,000) – vs. Arizona

With Sam Bennett out and the rest of this Flames’ offence not really capable of producing a lot of offence, Gaudreau and Monahan are the Flames you need to turn to when a strong matchup presents itself. The Coyotes are on a 10-game road losing streak and the Flames are one of the highest scoring teams on home ice in the NHL. After being held pointless for four-games, Gaudreau responded with a two-goal, one assist, 9.5 FP night on Wednesday. He is the Flames best forward and on a night where Calgary should pot some goals, Gaudreau is a safe bet to get on the scoresheet. Monahan has averaged 4.1 FPPG since February 23rd, picking up four goals and five assists over a nine-game span. And Ferland is just a punt-play, playing on a high-octane line. He has just 12 points in 56 games this season, so your hopes shouldn’t bee too high.

Defensemen

Mark Giordano – vs. ARI – $7,200

If you are going to stack the Flames vs. Louis Dominuge and the Yotes, make sure you pick up Giordano or Dougie Hamilton. Giordano has on goal, five assists and 5.5 FPPG in his last six games and offers an elite play at a high-price. If you can slip him in under the salary cap, you’ll be hard-pressed t find a better blueline option tonight.

Brent Seabrook – @ DAL – $5,900

Duncan Keith is a strong play tonight, but Seabrook is equally as strong for a cheaper price. Seabrook has picked up 4.2 FPPG in his last six games, tallying two goals and three assists over that span. In a game where there should be no shortage of offence, expect Seabrook to chip in in all categories, including blocked shots.

David Savard – vs. PIT – $4,100

Savard’s peripheral numbers are what give him such great value. He blocks a tonne of shots and has the ability to fire a lot of shots on goal. He logs huge minutes which increases his change at both of those and he comes in  with three goals in his last three games.

Goalies

Marc-Andre Fleury – @ CBJ – $8,200

This is not an ideal matchup, but it is not a terrible one either. The Blue Jackets will have Sergei Bobrovsky start for the first time since January 21st, so Fleury should get plenty of goal support. He has not beat the Blue Jackets this season, but has posted a stellar .944 SV% in the first two meetings.

Frederik Andersen – @ STL – $7,700

Again, not an ideal matchup for Andersen, but he and the Ducks seem borderline unbeatable right now. The Blues have won four in a row while averaging 4.00 goals per game, which will definitely scare a lot of players away. Andersen is on a hot-streak of his own, winning his last six starts with a 1.88 GAA and .935 SV%. The way the Ducks are rolling right now, this is not a bad play in my opinion.

Joni Ortio – vs. ARI – $6,800

The Flames certainly aren’t winning a lot right now, but they’re winning more than the Coyotes, who they take on tonight. Ortio has won two of his last three starts while posting a 1.99 GAA and .925 SV%. He has played very well since Karri Ramo’s season ended and you should be able to trust him on home ice tonight.
