Fantasy Hockey: Daily Goalie Rankings – 10/12/22
Trying to decide which goalies to start is a dilemma that Fantasy Hockey owners face daily.
We here at DailyFaceoff try to make being a Fantasy Owner as easy as possible. Each day, we will rank the day’s starting goalies based on their Projected Win%, Goals Against Average, and SV%. Win percentage and expected goals against are generated from Sportsbooks Odds and Implied Totals.
In addition to the Starting Goalies Rankings table, we will have a write-up about the best streaming options for that day (if any).

Matt Murray (TOR) – 64% Rostered
Murray is available in over a third (36%) of fantasy leagues, making him the waiver wire target between the pipes on Wednesday night. Toronto opens its season against Montreal, who finished 32nd in the NHL in 2021-22 on the way to acquiring the first overall draft pick. Murray will make his regular-season Maple Leafs’ debut after starting 20 games with the Senators a season ago and pitching a .906 SV%. He will hope to return to the form which saw him post a .914 SV% across five seasons with the Pittsburgh Penguins. He should be an almost automatic lock for a win tonight, as the Leafs face a rebuilding Canadiens team with plenty of issues on their blueline right now.
Linus Ullmark (BOS) – 53% Rostered
Available in nearly half of fantasy leagues, Ullmark makes a decent waiver target heading into Wednesday’s games as he faces Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals. The 29-year-old had an excellent 2021-22, posting career highs in wins (26), GAA (2.45) and SV% (.917) before losing his starting spot in the playoffs with a pair of bad showings (.860 SV%). Ullmark gets the nod after Coach Jim Montgomery announced that Boston will likely rotate Ullmark and Jeremy Swayman for the first four games of the season. The Bruins roster may look a little different on opening night as they begin the season somewhat beat up, missing four-time all-star Brad Marchand and two of their top four defensemen in Charlie McAvoy and Matt Grezelyk. Murray is the preferred target but Ullmark can be started for teams in a pinch.
