February 1st – Fantasy Hockey Goalie Rankings

There was a total of 11 games on the NHL agenda tonight, but four of them started this afternoon, so tonight’s goalie rankings only features the seven primetime games. Most number-1’s are getting the call tonight, with only one spot-start  option (Dan Ellis). If you are in need of a spot-start, hopefully you already picked up and played Chad Johnson, if not you are probably out of luck. If you don’t know which goalies to start, you start the guys ranked the highest. Ex. You have Crawford (#6) and Smith (#11), you start Crawford! Good Luck to all.

  1. Sergei Bobrovsky (vs. FLA) – Bobrovsky is 8-2-0 record with a 2.31 GAA and .926 SV% in his last 10 starts and has been dominant at home, winning eight of the last nine in Columbus.
  2. Marc-Andre Fleury (@ PHX) – Fleury leads the NHL in wins (29) so it is a pretty easy decision to start him on a nightly basis. He faces a Coyotes team who has dropped five of seven.
  3. Jonas Hiller (vs. DAL) – Hiller draws a break as the Stars turn to Dan Ellis, who has struggled this season. Look for Hiller to chalk up his 25th W of the season.
  4. Jonathan Bernier (vs. OTT) – Bernier faces a ton of rubber which contributes to his great .926 SV%. Toronto and Ottawa have played in two one-goal games this season, so expect another tightly contested affair.
  5. Brian Elliott (vs. NSH) – Elliott has struggled in his last three starts, but still holds a 13-4-2 record, 2.06 GAA and .917 SV% on the year. Nashville’s offence is not all that electric, so Elliott makes for a good play.
  6. Corey Crawford (@ SJ) – Crawford’s six OT losses in January are a tough pill to swallow, but to kick off a new month he faces a Sharks team he has enjoyed success against this season (1-0-1 / 1.44 GAA / .955 SV% )
  7. Darcy Kuemper (@ CGY) – Kuemper was lit up in his last outing but he draws a favourable matchup to redeem himself tonight.
  8. Craig Anderson (@ TOR) – Anderson has struggled with consistency this season, but his overall play is much higher now than it was earlier in the campaign. He should give the Sens a good chance to win tonight, but expect a could to get by him.
  9. Antti Niemi (vs. CHI) – Niemi has won four of his last five and 27 on the year, but the Blackhawks are a scary matchup. Tread lightly here.
  10. Karri Ramo (vs. MIN) – The Wild’s offence has picked up since Zach Parise’s return so Ramo is once again a risky start.
  11. Mike Smith (vs. PIT) – Smith’s confidence is probably pretty low right now and a matchup with Sidney Crosby and the Penguins is not going to help him get anymore confident.
  12. Tim Thomas (@ CBJ) – Thomas has allowed three-plus goals in six straight games, not exactly someone you want in your lineup on a crucial Saturday night.
  13. Dan Ellis (@ ANA) — Ellis beat the Ducks earlier in the year, but that was in Dallas, it is nearly impossible to suggest a spot-starting anyone in Anaheim this year.

Unconfirmed

Nashville – Carter Hutton / Devan Dubnyk
