Vasilevskiy starts Thursday in Columbus.
Vasilevskiy allowed two goals on 31 shots in the Lightning’s 3-2 win in Detroit on Monday. He was given a day off on Tuesday, but will make his seventh start of the season tonight in Columbus. So far this season, Vasilevskiy has gone 5-1-0 with a 3.00 GAA and .914 SV%, but he has played much better than the stats suggest.
Rinne leads the Predators onto the ice for warmups.
Rinne allowed one goal on 21 shots in the Predators’ win over the Avalanche on Tuesday. After opening the season with a loss, Rinne has won three of his last four starts while posting a 2.24 GAA and .923 SV%. Tonight he faces a Flyers team who is off to a great start, winning four of six while averaging 4.33 goals for per game.
Carter will undergo surgery on Thursday to repair a damaged ankle tendon; expected to be out at least six weeks.
Lundqvist will start Thursday vs. the Islanders.
Lundqvist allowed five goals on 33 shots in the Rangers’ 5-4 overtime loss to Pittsburgh on Tuesday. Despite losing three in a row and five of his first six starts, look for Lundqvist to start again tonight vs. the Islanders. King Henrik has struggled in the early going, posting a 3.23 GAA and .902 SV% so far this season.
Darling will start Thursday in Calgary.
Darling allowed two goals on 21 shots in the Hurricanes loss in Winnipeg last Saturday. With Cam Ward going on Tuesday, the Hurricanes will come back to Darling tonight in Calgary. The new No.1 goalie of the Hurricanes has won one of three starts while posting a 2.58 GAA and .893 SV% so far. Calgary comes in averaging 2.83 goals for per game so far.
Simmonds (lower-body) is expected to be in the Flyers lineup on Thursday.
van Riemsdyk (concussion) has been activated from IR; will play on Thursday.
