Hyman Suffers Torn ACL

Toronto Maple Leafs forward Zach Hyman will undergo surgery to repair a torn ACL. Hyman suffered the injury in Game 4 of Toronto’s first-round series with the Boston Bruins. Hyman played through the injury and finished the series, with an ATOI of 18:14 over the final three games. He registered one goal and no assists in seven playoff games.

The injury is expected to keep Hyman sidelined for a minimum of six months. Hyman said he is aiming to be ready for the start of next season, but the six-month timeline puts him on track for a return in late October. The 26-year-old winger registered a career-high 21 goals and 41 points in 71 games this season, playing primarily with John Tavares and Mitch Marner on the Maple Leafs’ top line. Hyman is signed through the 2020-21 season for an AAV of $2.5-million, via NHLNumbers.com.
