Jamie Benn and Josh Anderson drop gloves in heavyweight tilt

Jamie Benn continues to prove he can throw em’.

The Stars’ captain dropped the gloves with Columbus Blue Jackets forward Josh Anderson in a heavyweight fight Monday evening in Dallas.

Anderson caught Benn with a questionable high hit when the two teams faced off last Tuesday in Columbus. Benn was sure ready to throwdown when Anderson challenged him in the team’s rematch Monday:

Both players landed some heavy bombs and it was a fairly equal scrap.  A slo-mo replay from Fox Sports Southwest gives a better look at some of the punches.

Benn caught Anderson with a big left early, but Anderson definitely got in a few rights, including one that appeared to rip off part of Benn’s helmet or strap:

AT 6’2″, 205 lbs, Benn is showing why he’s one of the best power forwards in the game. He never shies away from dropping the gloves and finds the back of the net consistently. Through 17 games this season, Benn has racked up seven goals and 17 PIM.

It’s only November and Benn might already have participated in two of the best fights of the NHL season. It was just under a month ago that Benn squared off with New Jersey Devils’ forward Miles Wood in an epic scrap.

If you’re a Dallas fan, Benn is pretty much all you could want out of your captain.
