Jamie Benn and Miles Wood exchange heavy blows in epic fight

Holy smokes, what a scrap.

Jamie Benn and Miles Wood turned in their bid for fight-of-the-year Tuesday night in New Jersey.

The two forwards exchanged heavy blows in a spirited tilt that ultimately resulted in Benn bringing down Wood.

Both forwards are listed at 6’2″, but Benn has a 20-pound advantage on Wood. The Stars’ forward is listed at 210 lbs, while Wood comes in at 190 lbs.

The Stars’ captain landed a few good shots early, but Wood really hung in there and got in a few punches. Both players fell to their knees on different occasions and continued to fight.

The Dallas commentary made the fight just that more exciting:

According to hockeyfights.com, it was the ninth tilt of Wood’s career, while Benn was dropping the mitts for the 23rd time in his NHL career. Benn is known for his offense, but he’s a feisty player who has never shied away from dropping the gloves. Wood is no stranger to physicality either, as he’s racked up 172 PIM in 140 games in his young NHL career.

It was fight night in New Jersey — and boy did Benn and Wood ever deliver.
