2/28/12: According to Mike Heika of The Dallas Morning News, via Twitter, Benn is expected to practice tomorrow. Furthermore, the Stars are hoping their All-Star center can return this Wednesday. His return would help shore up a team that currently sits in the eighth playoff seed. It would be no shock if he returns a bit prematurely.

2/25/12: Two days ago we commented on Benn’s return date getting bumped back. According to ESPN Dallas’s Mark Stepneski, Benn will not return on Sunday night to face the Vancouver Canucks. Head coach Glen Gulutzan confirmed his star center would be out Sunday and listed Friday against the Edmonton Oilers as his most likely return date.

The indispensable Mark Stepneski of Andrew’s Stars Page listened in to Stars GM Joe Niewendyk on ESPN 103.3 FM today and reported a great little tidbit. According to Niewendyk, Benn will not play tonight or tomorrow as the Stars hold out hope that he can return on Sunday. His return date consistently getting bumped back could be construed as a setback, so infer as you may.

2/17/12: Last night, Dallas Stars center Jamie Benn was cut by the skate blade of Calgary Flames defensemen Mark Giordano. Despite what looked like a brutal injury, Benn is not expected to miss much time according to ESPN Dallas’s Mark Stepneski, via Twitter.

If we are to take the source at its word — which we will — Benn is unlikely to play tomorrow against the Phoenix Coyotes. However, Benn is probable for Sunday’s tilt against the Nashville Predators.

Through 52 games, the 22-year-old leads all Stars in points, scoring 17 goals and 49 points.
