January 28th – Fantasy Hockey Goalie Rankings

We have 11 games at our disposal tonight! Here are my goalie rankings to help you decide which goalies to play tonight. This is not just solely based on who will get the W but all other goaltending measurable statistics. If you have Jaroslav Halak (#3), Jonathan Bernier (#8) and  Jonas Gustavsson (#16) – You play the highest two = Halak and Bernier. Good Luck!

***

1. Tuukka Rask (vs. FLA) – Rask has had his recent struggles, but still carries a terrific 2.08 GAA and .930 SV%. He is a must-start every night, but especially when he goes head-to-head with Tim Thomas.

2. Ben Bishop (@ TOR) – Bishop leads the NHL in SV% (.934) and is third in Wins (26) and GAA (1.96)… So yeah you start him regardless of matchup.

3. Jaroslav Halak (vs. NJD) – The Blues were run out of New Jersey last Tuesday, I expect a much better St. Louis team this time around. The Devils typically don’t score a ton, so Halak should make out well tonight.

4. Steve Mason (vs. DET) – Simply put. Mason has not been good enough lately. But he takes on a Wings team without Franzen, Zetterberg and Datsyuk tonight. For all intensive purposes, this is half of an AHL squad.

5. Jonas Hiller (vs. MIN) – Hiller is coming off of a shutout and is 2-0-0 with a 1.92 GAA and .930 SV% against the Wild this season. Not to mention he is 14-1-2 at home.

6. Jonathan Quick (@ PHX) – Since returning from a grade 2 groin strain in early January, Quick has posted a 5-4-2 record, despite a stellar 1.53 GAA and .938 SV%.

7. Cory Schneider(@ STL) – This matchup is ugly for sure, but Schneider has been a brick wall in January. He is 4-1-2 with a 1.19 GAA and .956 SV% in 2014.

8. Jonathan Bernier (vs. TBL) – The Leafs aren’t very tight defensively, but they score enough to get Bernier ample W’s. Lets just hope they can squeeze enough passed Mr. Bishop tonight.

9. Ondrej Pavelec (vs. NSH) – Pavelec has won five of six and has been solid vs. the Predators this season – 1-1-1 with a 1.96 GAA and .940 SV% through the first three meetings.

10. Antti Raanta (@ CGY) – Raanta got his first career NHL win against the Flames, tonight he will likely chalk up his 13th career win against them.

11. Braden Holtby (@ BUF) – Holtby is coming off of a shutout and could string together back-to-back wins as the Capitals travel to face the lowly Sabres and their backup netminder.

12. Craig Anderson (@ CBJ) – Anderson is 4-1-3 record, 2.70 GAA and .913 SV% in January.

13. Carey Price (vs. CAR) – Price has been pulled in two out of his three starts and allowed 21 goals in his last five starts (4, 4, 5, 4, 4). Tonight he meets a hot Hurricanes team who have won four in a row.

14. Tim Thomas (@ BOS) – Thomas played very strong against the Bruins and the extra motivation may help him play well again tonight, but he is a high-risk play vs. a strong Bruins team.

15. Darcy Kuemper (@ ANA) – Kuemper is 5-2-1 with a 1.83 GAA and .941 SV% since being recalled but draws the tough assignment of trying to beat the Ducks in Anaheim tonight.

16. Jonas Gustavsson (@ PHI) – Gustavsson is enjoying a strong campaign, but it will be difficult for the Wings to chalk up a win with all the injuries they’re dealing with.

17. Carter Hutton (@ WPG) – Hutton is 6-6-1 with a 3.15 GAA and .894 SV% on the road this season and will face a surging Jets team in a hostile building.

18. Thomas Greiss(vs. LA) -When called upon, Greiss has been a reliable spot-start option this season, but the matchup tonight makes him a risky play.

19. Curtis McElhinney (vs. OTT) – The Senators have dropped four of five and the Blue Jackets have been trending upwards, but McElhinney’s 2.78 GAA and .908 SV% should make you think twice about spot-starting him tonight.

20. Reto Berra (vs. CHI) – The Blackhawks are a tough matchup for any netminder, but especially ones who play for Calgary.

21. Jhonas Enroth (vs. WSH) – One win on the year and taking on Ovechkin. Are you really going to bank on win #2 coming tonight?

Late Confirm
