UPDATE 1/5/12: If Jaromir Jagr has his way, he will be back on the ice this weekend.

When questioned by CSN’s Tim Panaccio, the superstar expressed his surprise when hearing he would miss 7-10 days. Instead, Jagr explained that he felt better and thought he would be able to return after two days of practice. From CSN Philly:

“I was surprised to hear that, because I didn’t feel that way,” Jagr said of the timeline, adding he was actually speared in the groin area against Pittsburgh last week, not the calf.

“Only way I feel pain is when I push my leg all the way,” he said. “That was in the game. Today, I felt fine but it’s only practice and I don’t [extend] … I have at least two more practice days and it heals quick.”

Sounds like Jagr should return shortly in either case but he is certainly aiming for a return this Saturday against the Sens.

During the 2012 NHL Winter Classic, Philadelphia Flyers right wing Jaromir Jagr was limited to only 7:09 of ice time. According to Dustin Leed of The Hockey Guys, via Twitter, Jagr admitted to having problems skating after getting speared in the Flyers’ last game — last Thursday’s 4-2 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins.

At this point, there is no timetable for his return but it was clearly serious enough to keep him out of such an important game.

With 12 goals and 31 points through 32 games, Jagr is currently third on the Flyers in scoring. Expect a further update from the team.
