Jeff Carter signs 11 year extension with Flyers

Jeff Carter and the Philadelphia Flyers have agreed to an 11 year,  58 million dollar extension.  The deal, which would last through Carter’s 37th birthday, carries approximately a 5.27 million cap hit– pretty reasonable for a former 46 goal scorer.

Through his first 16 games this season, Carter has done well with 14 points playing mostly with the recently re-signed Claude Giroux.

With Carter now signed the team can move on to retaining the surprising Ville Leino.  The Flyers only have two UFA and three RFA forwards on their current roster as they enter next season; they have ensured their core up front would remain in tact with both re-signings this week.
