Marc Savard Out with PCS; Should Seguin Be Bumped Up?

Post-concussion syndrome is terrorizing another athlete and this time it’s Boston’s Marc Savard.  Plagued with injuries last season, Savard received his concussion thanks to getting blindsided by the Matt Cooke train.  Savard eventually returned for the playoff series against Philadelphia but the symptoms of PCS can come into effect well after the injury and, in the case of Andreas Lilja, can sometimes keep you out for extended periods of time.  There’s no timetable for Savard’s return, all we know is that he won’t be participating in the Bruins’ training camp just yet.

Clearly this kind of vacancy puts the Bruins in a bad spot offensively, given that Savard has consistently been a huge part of their offense as their number one center.  That said, it makes a better case for #2 overall pick Tyler Seguin to make the roster out of training camp.

Seguin, however, shouldn’t be considered a legitimate fantasy play because of the other options Boston has up the middle.  Expect to see David Krejci and Patrice Bergeron remain higher on the depth chart than Seguin.
