The world’s most famous flu has made it’s way to the NHL and we’ve already seen it affect multiple teams, but perhaps more than anyone, the Oilers.  Edmonton players have been battling flu-like symptoms for a few days now and just recently Ladislav Smid has been diagnosed with swine flu.  Add to the list Lubomir Visnovsky, who left Tuesday’s game, Gilbert Brule, Mike Comrie, Shawn Horcoff and Patrick O’Sullivan who have all felt the flu symptoms this week.  Mike Babcock, head coach of the Red Wings, very careful not to let the flu spread to his team instructed his training staff to scrub every inch of the Vancouver Canucks’ visitors dressing room, the same room the Oilers occupied on Sunday night.

Other players confirmed to have H1N1 include Derek Armstrong and Peter Budaj while Doug Weight, Dustin Boyd, Peter Regin, Pascal Leclaire, Pascal Dupuis, and Quintin Laing have all experienced flu-like symptoms.  Surely their respective teams will take protective measures to ensure the symptoms do not spread.

Update: Quintin Laing has now been diagnosed with swine flu.
