UPDATE: Nash returns Tuesday vs. Boston

Nov. 19 – 1:25 pm EST – Nash’s status was updated this morning, he will be in the lineup tonight against the Bruins after missing six weeks with a concussion. Nash is expected to skate on a line with Brian Boyle and Carl Hagelin. Rangers head coach Alain Vigneault anticipates to play Nash around 15 minutes, as they ease him back into the lineup. If Nash can stay healthy, it is reasonable to expect him to score 25 goals in the remaining 62 games. If healthy he will likely find himself in Sochi, Russia on Team Canada’s Olympic roster.

Rangers forward Rick Nash continues to progress towards a return after being concussed on October 8.

Nash skated for the eighth consecutive day on Saturday prior to the Rangers contest with the Canadiens. After sitting out for over a month, Nash was cleared for contact on Friday, but will miss his 16th and 17th games tonight and Sunday. Barring any setbacks, Nash is targeting Tuesday against the Bruins to return to the lineup. Should he be unavailable Tuesday, New York’s next game is Thursday versus Dallas.

In his first season with the Rangers in 2012-13, Nash had 21 goals and 21 assists (42 points) in 44 games. It was one of his best statistical season’s as a pro as far as points-per-game is concerned. After the Rangers started the season 3-6-0 on a nine game road-trip, they went 6-3-0 since their home opener on October 28. Nash’s return would drastically help the Rangers’ 24th ranked offence (2.28 G/PG) and 16th ranked power-play (18.0%).

Nash like many other Canadian NHLers, has aspirations to represent his country at the Olympics. A mid-November return gives him two months to showcase his skills to Steve Yzerman and the rest of Team Canada’s Olympic committee. He won Gold with team Canada in the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.

Nash is only owned in 93% of Yahoo! leagues, so if  he is not owned in your league, he would be a fantastic addition with his return just around the corner.
