Nikolai Khabibulin pulls groin; placed on IR

Nikolai Khabibulin has a pulled groin and in turn will be place on injured reserve says the team, via Twitter.  Since the team needs two healthy goalies to dress, veteran Martin Gerber has been recalled from the AHL.

Over Khabibulin’s last four starts he has been brutal to say the absolute least, allowing 22 goals and getting pulled twice.  His counterpart, Devan Dubnyk, by comparison has been stellar although winless with two overtime losses and a .923 SV%.

However, with the veteran Gerber recalled there may be a bit of a competition between the pipes.
