Flint Firebirds president of hockey operations Terry Christensen has been expelled from the Ontario Hockey League, the league announced Thursday.

An investigation into Christensen was launched by the league after an allegation was brought forth by the OHL’s player communication system. The remarks made, the league said, violated the league’s harassment and abuse/diversity policy and were “prejudicial to the welfare of the League.”

No details of the remarks have been made public.

“His conduct violated the League’s expectation of the appropriate conduct of a representative of an OHL Team and he has lost the privilege to participate in the League,” the league said in a statement.

He was suspended by the league on March 5 after the allegation was brought forth Feb. 20.

Christensen, 67, joined the Firebirds in 2015-16 as the club’s general manager before being promoted to vice-president of hockey operations the following year. Ahead of this past season, he re-took the reins of general manager and was promoted to president of hockey operations.

Prior to that, Christensen worked at various levels of hockey that included the NCAA as an assistant coach as well as various other pro and junior ranks. He also was the head coach of the U.S. World Junior team in 1988.

The Firebirds have been one of the best teams in the OHL this season, sitting fifth in the league at the time of writing with a 40-21-1-1 record.
