Oilers re-sign Sam Gagner for two years

Sam Gagner will remain an Oiler as he re-signed with the team for two years and a reported 2.275 million cap hit. At only 21-years-old Gagner looks primed to continue playing in the NHL as he already potted 131 points in his NHL career. Last year the second generation center finished second on the team to only Dustin Penner.

This season the Oilers will start a number of promising young players including but not limited to Magnus Pääjärvi-Svensson, Jordan Eberle and number one overall pick Taylor Hall. Gagner will still need to beat the albatross contract of Shawn Horcoff and the speedy Andrew Cogliano to claim the top center role but he probably holds the highest ceiling of all of above.

Gagner may be poised for a breakout year with some seriously talented young forwards; deeper leagues need him on their radar.
