Pavelski Still Sidelined

There was hope Joe Pavelski could return from injury for tonight’s game against the Blackhawks, but the Sharks will be without their captain for at least one more game. Pavelski participated in a full practice yesterday and was deemed questionable for tonight’s game. He skated in his usual spot on the first line and power-play unit, suggesting he’s very close to a return. His next opportunity to rejoin the lineup is Saturday night at home against the Golden Knights. Pavelski has missed the last four games with a lower-body injury.

Without Pavelski, the Sharks are expected to go with the same starting lineup from Monday’s game against Detroit. Gustav Nyquist will be back on the top line with Logan Couture and Timo Meier, while Lukas Radil will skate with Evander Kane and Tomas Hertl on line two. The third line of Joe Thornton, Melker Karlsson, and Kevin Labanc remains intact.

Let’s Talk Fantasy

Nyquist remains the best option for Pavelski owners, but he’s not widely available at 41% ownership. If position eligibility isn’t an issue, I’d advise taking a look at Joe Thornton. He’s just 15% owned and has seen a spike in ice time and production since Pavelski left the lineup. Big Joe has racked up two goals and six assists in his last seven games.
