Peter Mueller suffers another concussion

Anybody hoping Peter Mueller would be seeing a breakout year might instead be seeing a repeat of some of the other careers plagued by too many concussions in too short a time.  The most recent concussion for Mueller happened in Wednesday’s preseason game against the Los Angeles Kings – the night before he was slated to try out the new “Mark Messier” honeycomb-style helmet specifically designed to reduce concussions.

Mueller moved over the the Avs at the trade deadline last season from the Phoenix Coyotes in exchange for Wojtek Wolski.  As a player always tabbed to have untapped potential, Mueller displayed flashes of this posting 9 goals and 11 assists in 15 games with the Avs playing predominantly on their top line.  Mueller has no timetable for his return but it’s a good idea to pull him off of your draft radar.

Replacing Mueller’s Left Wing vacancy on a line with Matt Duchene and Milan Hejduk is likely to be David Jones, but it’s likely that you can find other fantasy options like Jamie Benn or Alex Tanguay around the same draft position.
