Picks: Sens Thankful for Hosting the Jackets

Picks: Sens Thankful for Hosting the Jackets

Last night, 10 of the 14 games played went well under the game total which certainly surprised me.  Hopefully it’s not a trend that continues!  There’s two games tonight for those that want to watch more than football and we’re looking at both of them!

Looking for a great sportsbook site to place your bets? I use and trust Bodog to place my hockey bets but if you are looking for a site where you can bet for free, try CentSports. You always have a minimum of 10 cents to start off and let you bet on the NHL and other sports. When you increase your balance, you are eligible to cash out! Remember that I post these picks for fun and I encourage you to do the same (i.e. don’t bet what you can’t afford to lose). All lines are provided by Bodog and are current at the time of posting.

Columbus Blue Jackets +105 at Ottawa Senators -125

The Blue Jackets blew two leads on Monday and let in 3 goals to the Habs to lose the game – great finish, boys.  However, one thing we did see is their poor defense and goaltending coupled with their ability to put pucks in the net.  On the road this season, Columbus has gone over in 11 of their 13 road games including 3 of their last 4 on this road trip.  That’s great news because they’re playing a Senators team who has lost their starting goalie and has gone over in 3 of their last 5 home games.  Generally, Ottawa is only 8-7 over-under at home but meeting Columbus’ league-worst defense, 4.1 goals allowed per game,  with their 7th-best home offense, 3.5 goals per game, is nice.  Not to mention, Columbus owns the league’s best road offense, 3.7 goals per game, and Brian Elliott is going back-to-back or Mike Brodeur will get the start.
Pick: Over 5.5 goals -130

Los Angeles Kings +165 at Vancouver Canucks -185

The Canucks are finally as healthy as they need to be to start winning games.  Ignore that they were shutout at home to Chicago and look at that defense.  They held a team that potted 7 goals against the Sharks’ crazy-defense to 1 goal.  The held division rivals Colorado to 2 goals the game before all en route to a league-leading 1.8 goals allowed per game at home.  Luongo appears to be back on track so rest easy Canuck fans.  The Kings are struggling and have lost 2 of their last 3.  They’ve won their last 3 road games but beating Edmonton, Florida and Tampa Bay was expected of them.  The Kings have key injuries to deal with and it’s a big reason in their drop in scoring as they’re only looking at 2.3 goals per game over their last 3 and a big scoring dropoff from where they were earlier in the season.  In their first game against Vancouver in LA, the Canucks held the Kings to only 1 goal – with Andrew Raycroft in net.  I like the outright win here but the puck line is even more intriguing as the Canucks have won by 2+ goals in all 5 of their last 5 victories (dating back to November 1.
Pick: Canucks -1.5 +160

Happy Thanksgiving!
