James Wisniewski News

Wisniewski is expected to miss six months with a torn ACL in his left knee.

Wisniewski was acquired this summer from Anaheim in a trade that saw Anton Khudobin go the other way. Wisniewski has battled injury issues throughout his NHL career and he only made it 47 seconds into his Hurricanes debut before he had to be helped off of the ice. Wisniewski is signed through next season, so he might get another chance to dress with the Hurricanes.

Wisniewski (lower-body) left Thursday’s game and did not return.

Just 47 seconds into his Hurricanes debut, the oft-injured Wisniewski went down with a lower-body injury and had to be helped off of the ice. After the game, head coach Bill Peters did not have an update on Wisniewski’s injury, but expect a status report leading up to Saturday’s game with the Red Wings.

Wisniewski is expected to be a healthy scratch in Game 1.

Wisniewski, who was acquired from the Blue Jackets at the trade deadline, will be a healthy scratch for Game 1. This will be the second time in three games that he will sit in favour of Clayton Stoner.

Wisniewski will get back into the Ducks lineup this afternoon.

Wisniewski was a healthy scratch on Thursday, but he will be back in the lineup this afternoon on Long Island. Wisniewski has three assists in eight games with the Ducks. He will replace Hampus Lindholm.

Wisniewski will make his Ducks season debut on Monday.

The Ducks GM Bob Murray has arrived in Vancouver with the rest of Wisniewski's equipment. He was concerned he did not have his custom knee brace, but he does now so he will play his first game with the Ducks since he was with them back in 2009-10. He will play with Clayton Stoner and could see some power-play time. He has 29 points (8G / 21A) in 56 games with Columbus before being traded to Anaheim at the deadline.

Wisniewski still questionable for Monday because his equipment has not arrived.

Wisniewski has been using borrowed equipment in practice recently, but said his big concern is his knee brace, which has not arrived yet because of bad weather in Memphis. Wiz has had three surgeries on his right knee, so you can understand his concern. Consider him a game-time decision, but if he does play he is expected to skate with Clayton Stoner.

The Ducks have acquired James Wisniewski and a 2015 3rd round pick from the Blue Jackets for Rene Bourque, William Karlsson and a 2015 2nd round pick.

Wisniewski, who reportedly suffered a foot injury last night, must have received a good prognosis on that front. The 31-year-old has a ton of offence, bringing a bomb to the Ducks power-play. He joins Cam Fowler, Sami Vatanen, Hampus Lindholm and Francois Beauchemin on the Ducks blue line—all of which have offensive capabilities.

Wisniewski will be back in the Blue Jackets lineup on Tuesday.

Wisniewski was a healthy scratch on Sunday, but will be back in the lineup tonight vs. Buffalo. Coach Todd Richards was not happy with Wisniewski’s recent performances, but he will get back in with a great matchup. He has seven goals and 20 assists (27 points) in 52 games.

Wisniewski (lower-body) is expected to return to the lineup on Friday.

Wisniewski has missed the last two games with a lower-body injury, but he was on the ice for the Blue Jackets morning skate and is expected to be paired with Kevin Connauton tonight vs. the Flyers. Wiz has 24 points (6G / 18A) in 47 games this season.

Wisniewski will miss his second straight game tonight, but after tonight the Blue Jackets are off until Friday. Coach Todd Richards said “it’s possible” that Wisniewski will play this weekend.

Wisniewski (undisclosed) will not play on Saturday.

Wisniewski suffered and undisclosed injury in the Blue Jackets dominant win over the Blues last night. He will not be traveling to Ottawa for tonight’s game and will stay in Columbus and be evaluated. Expect Jordan Leopold to be in the lineup for Wisniewski.

Wisniewski (finger) could be back on Friday.

Wisniewski had a “good day” on Wednesday and should be available for Friday according to head coach Todd Richards.  “He was able to shoot pucks, wrist shots and slap shots,” Richards said. “He’s getting close.” Wisniewski learned he would not need surgery on the finger after taking another set of x-rays on Tuesday. With Jack Johnson suspended, getting Wisniewski’s return would be huge for the Blue Jackets.

Wisniewski will miss 1-2 weeks with a broken finger.

Wisniewski joins an already lengthy injury list in Columbus. The Blue Jackets have not been able to catch a break to start the season and it continued on Tuesday night when Wisniewski broke his finger in a loss to the Senators. Wisniewski has missed 53 games over three years in Columbus, so he is no stranger to the IR.
