Crosby has been placed on the NHL's COVID-19 protocol list.

Crosby missed the first seven games of the season but made his season debut on Saturday. After testing positive for COVID-19, it looks like Crosby will come right back out of the lineup on Thursday. Jeff Carter cantered the top line in practice on Wednesday.

Crosby (wrist) will be a game-time decision on Saturday.

Crosby has missed the first seven games of the season but has been skating regularly for the last two weeks. In Friday's practice, he skated on the top line with Jake Guentzel and Evan Rodrigues and was on the top power-play unit, both good signs that he'll play Saturday. Crosby had 62 points (24G / 38A) in 55 games a season ago.

Crosby (wrist) travelled with the team but is expected to miss at least the first two games of the season.

Crosby was back on the ice on Monday and will travel to Florida on the Penguins' season-opening road trip but is not expected to play. The Penguins were pretty tight-lipped about Crosby's timeline, so the fact that he will travel and skate with the team is a good sign that he will not be sidelined for too long. Crosby has not yet been ruled out for the Penguins' home opener vs. the Blackhawks on Saturday.

Crosby (undisclosed) returns to practice on Friday.

Crosby has been absent since getting hurt in Monday's scrimmage game. He skated on his own prior to their scrimmage on Thursday but was deemed "unfit to play." On Friday he joined his teammates for practice, which is a good sign that he'll be available for Game 1 vs. the Montreal Canadiens.
