Engelland received a match penalty for his hit on Justin Abdelkader in Saturday's win and faces certain further punishment after being offered an in-person hearing by the NHL Department of Player Safety.

in-person hearings allow for suspensions beyond five games. Engelland is a repeat offender, having been suspended for three games in December of 2011 for another illegal check to the head. The Penguins will have to recall a defenseman to fill the void that will be left by Engelland's potential suspension.
