Mark Stuart News

The Jets placed Mark Stuart on waivers for the purpose of a buyout.

Stuart was entering his final season of a four-year deal that carried a $2.625M cap hit. Stuart’s buyout will save the Jets $1.2M against the cap next season. This was a longtime coming for Stuart, who suited up for just 42 games last season and has collected just three goals and four assists (seven points) in a combined 106 games over the last two seasons.

Stuart will miss his second straight game with a lingering lower-body injury. The Jets placed him on IR in order to make room for Mathieu Perreault (arm) to be activated. Stuart is eligible to return whenever he is healthy.

Stuart (undisclosed) will not play on Wednesday.

Stuart missed yesterday’s practice and today’s game day skate with an undisclosed injury. Coach Paul Maurice said that Stuart could probably play tonight, but will benefit from having a week off during the All Star break. He will be replaced by Jacob Trouba, who will return from IR.

Stuart (lower-body) is at practice for the second straight day.

Stuart has been sidelined since December 16th, but appears to be slightly ahead of schedule in his recovery from a lower-body injury. He was originally expected to be out until early February, but with three weeks remaining in January and his participation the last two days, a late-January return seems more likely.

Stuart will be out until February with a lower-body injury.

Stuart was injured in a fight at the end of Sabres game on Tuesday. The Jets blue line takes another huge blow. They are now without Stuart, Zach Bogosian, Jacob Trouba and Tobias Enstrom for at least the rest of December and early January.

The Jets have signed Mark Stuart to a four-year, $10.5 millions US contract extension.

There were reports that the Jets were shopping the pending unrestricted free agent, but they decided to sign the rugged defenseman through the 2017-18 season. He is not an offensive, fantasy producer, but he is a strong defensive defenseman the Jets will be happy to have for the next four years.

The Jets have activated Mark Stuart (hip) from injured reserve.

Stuart skated again on Friday and was deemed fit to play on Saturday. Stuart missed the last 10 games with a hop injury. This is good timing for Winnipeg, as Zach Bogosian was placed on IR today with a lower-body ailment. Stuart is a rugged, physical defenseman, but is not much of a fantasy contributor. He has two assists in 12 games.
