The Rangers have recalled Nicklas Jensen from Hartford (AHL).

Jensen, 23, has picked up eight goals and seven assists (15 points) in 21 games with Hartford this season. Both Rick Nash and Matt Puempel left last night’s game with injuries, so Jensen has been recalled and will travel to Winnipeg and Chicago with the team.

The Rangers signed Nicklas Jensen to a one-year deal.

Jensen was acquired in the deal that sent Emerson Etem to Vancouver, and he spent the entire year in the AHL. Jensen had 15 goals and 10 assists (25 points) in 41 games with Hartford, to go along with the 12 points (4G / 8A) he had with Utica before the trade. The 2011 first round pick (29th overall) will look to make the Rangers out of training camp this fall.

The Rangers have acquired Nicklas Jensen and a 2017 6th Round Pick from the Canucks for Emerson Etem.

Jensen, 22, was the 29th overall pick in the 2011 NHL Draft. The 6-foot-3, 186 lbs. right winger has registered 12 points (4G / 8A) in 27 games with Utica this season. He has three goals and three assists in 24 career NHL games. Jensen was approaching waiver-eligible status, so the Canucks feared losing him for nothing and Etem is an NHL-ready winger.
