William Karlsson (lower body) will miss both of Vegas' upcoming games Thursday and Saturday.

Karlsson will miss at least the next two games as he tends to a lower-body injury. He played 18:36 time-on-ice in the Golden Knights 3-0 loss at the hands of the Seattle Kraken at the Winter Classic on Monday. Karlsson was previously occupying the center-ice position on the third line between Paul Cotter and Michael Amadio.

Karlsson missed the last eight games with a broken finger but is expected to play tomorrow in Minnesota. At Monday's practice, Karlsson centred the Golden Knights' third line and top power-play. He returns with 10 goals and 24 assists (34 points) in 49 games this season.

The Golden Knights have signed William Karlsson to an eight-year contract extension worth $47.2 million ($5.9M AAV).

In his second season with the Golden Knights, Karlsson expectedly saw his shooting percentage drop from 23.4% to 14.2% which led to him scoring just 24 goals with 32 assists (56 points) in 82 games. Over the last two seasons, Karlsson ranks 17th in goals (67) and tied for 45th in points (134). His new cap-hit is the same last Jonathan Huberdeau and Aleksander Barkov, which is tied for 109th highest in the NHL—extremely reasonable for a player who is in the top-50 in scoring.

Nate Thompson missed the third period of Monday’s game vs. the Red Wings, so the Ducks recalled Karlsson, 22, who could be in the lineup on Wednesday vs. the Senators. Karlsson has registered two goals and one assist in 17 games with the Ducks and 21 points (7G / 14A) in 35 games with Norfolk.

Karlsson had 15 goals and 22 assists (37 points) in 55 games in Sweden last season and nine points (2G / 7A) in nine games in the AHL after coming to North America.
