Keller suffered a lower-body injury in an awkward fall into the end boards during Wednesday's win over the Sharks. Keller had to be stretchered off of the ice but tweeted last night that he was "resting comfortably at the hospital in good spirits." Keller will miss the rest of the season but is expected to be ready for the start of the 2022-23 season.

The Coyotes have signed Clayton Keller to an 8-year deal worth $57.2 million ($7.15M AAV).

Keller was set to become a restricted free agent after this 2020 season but the Coyotes locked him up early. Keller had a tremendous rookie season but took a step backward in 2019 but his shooting percentage and on-ice SH% should see some positive regression in 2020. Keller’s new contract makes him the highest-paid forward on the Coyotes, surpassing Phil Kessel’s $6.8 AAV.

The Coyotes signed Keller on Sunday; will make his NHL debut on Monday.

Keller, 18, was the seventh overall pick this summer and is coming off of a fantastic freshman season at Boston University. He led the team with 45 points (21G / 24A) in 31 games and will draw right into the Coyotes lineup on Monday. He is worth a stash in keeper leagues, because he should break camp next fall with the Coyotes.
