Wayne Simmonds is retiring with the Philadelphia Flyers after 15 NHL seasons.

Simmonds was a second-round pick of the Los Angeles Kings in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft and announced an end to his 15-year career on Monday. The 35-year-old SImmonds most recently played with the Toronto Maple Leafs last season, being limited to only 18 games, scoring two points (0G / 2A). He ends his career with 1037 games and 526 points (263G / 263A), including two 30-goal campaigns.

Simmonds will head back to the Maple Leafs after being sent down to Toronto of the AHL earlier in the week. The 34-year-old veteran has one assist in his first three games while playing a fourth-line role with the Maple Leafs. In 1,022 career games played in the NHL, he has 263 goals and 262 assists, and 1,268 PIMs.

Wayne Simmonds will see his first NHL action of the 2022-23 season Saturday as the Maple Leafs head to Winnipeg to take on the Jets. After being waived early in the season, Simmonds is expected to slot into a fourth-line role for the struggle Maple Leafs. Simmonds became a member of the 1000 games club last season and currently sits on 1019 games played. Throughout his 14-year career, he has 263 goals, and 524 points to go along with 2121 PIMs.
