Klein (back) will not play on Tuesday.

Klein will miss his fourth straight game with back spasms and Dan Girardi (lower-body) will join him in the press box, which leaves the Rangers down to five healthy defensemen. Expect them to recall a defenseman from Hartford (AHL).

Klein (back) will make his season debut on Wednesday.

Klein missed the first three games of the season with back spasms, but will make his season debut tonight vs. the Red Wings. Klein will replace Dylan McIlrath and skate on the second pairing with Marc Staal. Klein had 26 points (9G / 17A) in 69 games last year, including two points (1G / 1A) in three games against Detroit.

Klein underwent an MRI on his back that showed a strain. Klein is listed as day-to-day and will miss the season opener on Thursday. With Klein out, look for Skjei to get into the lineup.

Klein has missed the last few practices and is questionable for the start of the 2016-17 season. It looked as if Dylan McIlrath would start the season in the press box, but if Klein is unable to play, look for him to draw into the lineup. Klein has missed a combined 26 games over the last two years.

Klein missed Sunday’s game in Washington with a thumb injury, but he took part in the morning skate and is listed as a game-time decision for Tuesday. Puck-drop is at 7 p.m, so monitor his status during the pregame warmups starting at 6:30 p.m.

Klein has not played since November 30th because of an oblique issue, but will be back in the lineup tonight in Nashville to face his former team. Klein has three goals, three assists and a plus-11 rating in 25 games this season.
