The Blackhawks have recalled Brandon Pirri from Rockford (AHL).

Pirri is back with the Blackhawks after being sent down in early January. In 16 AHL games, Pirri recorded four goals and nine assists (13 points). He totalled 11 points (6G / 5A) in 24 games with Chicago this season. He could find himself centering the second line with Patrick Kane and Brandon Saad, making him a strong add in 12-plus team leagues.

Pirri led the AHL in scoring last year with 22 goals, 53 assists (75 points) in 76 games. He was one of the last cuts in training camp but will be in the lineup tonight vs. Buffalo. He will skate on a line with Patrick Sharp and Marian Hossa, a line that definitely gives him some fantasy value.

After five games, it's clear that Joel Quenneville isn't happy with the Blackhawks' second line center situation. Brandon Pirri, the preseason favorite for the second line center job, has been recalled, while struggling winger Jimmy Hayes has been sent to Rockford.

Pirri, who missed most of the preseason with an injury, was one of the last roster cuts the team made heading in to October 1st's opening game. Had he not gotten injured, it's safe to assume he would have made the team from the start. This is the chance of a lifetime for Pirri, who led the entire American Hockey League in scoring last season. If he can stick, he could be up permanently. To do that, he'll have to play responsible hockey on both ends of the ice.

Brandon Pirri is listed in the early lineup for the Blackhawks tonight.

Pirri led the Blackhawks AHL affiliate in assists (53) and points (75) in 76 games last year. The Hawks are looking for someone to center Marian Hossa and Patrick Sharp on their second line. Pirri was a candidate heading into camp but he has been dealing with an undisclosed injury all camp. He will be on the second line tonight and if he plays well, he just might be penciled into that spot come October.

The Chicago Blackhawks have recalled forward Brandon Pirri (PEER-ee) from the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs.

With Ben Smith and Dave Bolland questionable for this weekend's games, the Blackhawks re-called Pirri. Last season, the Toronto native scored 12 goals and 43 points over 70 games for the Rockland IceHogs of the AHL. He should be capable of handling a checking role for the Blackhawks, possibly potting a few goals,.

I definitely think he’ll be up here at some point. The numbers just didn’t work in his favor right now but it’s a long season, and he’s a center which puts him on high alert at all times.

The former second round pick has put himself in good position to make the team as the third line center with yet another impressive game. Last season, the Toronto native scored 12 goals and 43 points over 70 games for the Rockland IceHogs of the AHL. He should be capable of handling a checking role for the Blackhawks and should see time in their sweater at some point this season.
