Colin Greening News

#Sens GM Bryan Murray telling us that Greening is nursing a bit of a sore hip from Gaustad hit on the weekend, but is OK.

Good news on Greening, who completes the Sens top line. Prior to the injury he scored four goals and eight points over 15 games.

"There’s lots of skilled players in the league, but he’s such a physical specimen that he’s hard to control, he’s intimidating, he can hurt guys on the forecheck and he creates lots of space for himself and his wingers."

Over the first two games, Greening has played on one of the team's top two lines producing two goals in the process. A power forward with skill to boot, the 25-year-old could pot 20 goals while playing with his talented linemates.

One that has potential, though, is the threesome of Colin Greening, Jason Spezza, and Nikita Filatov. Spezza had some history with Greening last season and he has now played a couple of pre-season games with Filatov.

Greening has a chance to stick on a top line should he continue gaining chemistry with Filatov and Spezza. Last year he scored six goals and 13 points with the Sens over 24 games. The budding power forward could very well score 15-20 goals if he stays healthy and on a scoring line.

The Senators also announced the signing of forward Colin Greening to a 3-year, 1-way contract. Greening tallied 13 points in 24 games with the Senators, finishing 2nd in rookie scoring with the team. Greening was Ottawa’s 7th round selection in the 2005 NHL Entry draft.
