Rakell (upper-body) will not play on Sunday.

This leaves the Ducks without three of their top-6 forwards because both Ryan Getzlaf and Jakob Silfverberg are out with the flu. The Ducks recalled Daniel Sprong to fill one of the spots but the other will likely go to Jaccob Larsson and they will dress seven defensemen and 11 forwards.

Rakell (upper-body) re-joined the Ducks for practice on Monday.

Rakell has missed the last five games with an upper-body injury but was back on the ice for Monday’s practice, a sign that he may be back in the lineup Tuesday in Vegas. The Ducks returning Kalle Kossila to San Diego (AHL) is a sign that he’ll play tomorrow.

Rakell (abdomen) was a full participant in Monday’s practice; expected to make his season debut on Tuesday.

Rakell missed the first nine games of the season with an abdomen injury, contract holdout and work visa issue. However, he was back on the ice on Monday, centring the third line with Antoine Vermette and Chris Wagner on his wing. Rakell, who had 43 points (20G / 23A) in 72 games last year, was also featured on the second power-play.

The Ducks have signed Rickard Rakell to a six-year deal worth $22.8 million ($3.8M AAV).

Rakell missed the first game of the season because of a contract holdout, but the Ducks were able to sign him to a six-year deal this afternoon. Rakell is imperative to the Ducks success as their second/third line centre. He is coming off of a career-year, having scored 20 goals with 23 assists (43 points) in 72 games.

Rakell (appendicitis) will return to the Ducks lineup for Game 1.

Rakell missed the final seven games of the regular season after having his appendix removed. The third-year centre set career-highs in goals (20), assists (23), points (43), shots (169) and game-winners (7). He is expected to play between Jamie McGinn and Corey Perry tonight.
