Downie will be a healthy scratch tonight vs. the Rangers, after head coach Craig Berube said that his effort level shift-to-shift needs to be higher. Downie has not recorded a point in his last 10 games and is a minus-4 over that span. Tye McGinn will move to the third line, like he did in the third period on Saturday and Rosehill will slot in on the fourth line.

Downie missed four games after suffering a concussion in a fight on November 1. Tonight will be his second game back with the Flyers, he had one goal and six assists in 11 games with the Avalanche. Downie will skate on the third line with Matt Read and Sean Couturier.

Downie has missed the last four games after being concussed in a fight on his first game back with the Flyers. He had a goal and an assist in 11 games with the Avalanche before being traded to Philly. Monitor his status during Tuesday's morning skate.

Downie skated on his own on Wednesday, but has joined his teammates today. Downie suffered a concussion less than a week ago and is listed as day-to-day. He is not expected to suit up tonight, but should not be out for long.

The Colorado Avalanche have traded Steve Downie to the Philadelphia Flyers for Max Talbot.

Downie was the first round pick of the Flyers in 2005 (29th) overall and spent 2006-09 with the Flyers organization. Downie has had a strong start to the season with one goal and six assists in 11 games. We will have to wait until tomorrow to see where Downie slots into the Flyers lineup.

But Downie, who has a reputation for being tough and able to play hurt, skated and took shots on goal as part of the morning skate at the Pepsi Center. The Avs still were awaiting more tests on Downie's shoulder, but coach Joe Sacco indicated he would play if he is medically cleared.

Downie is a game-time decision at this point. The gritty winger has enjoyed his time in Colorado with two goals and seven points in his first six games.
