Ouellet, 22, being sent back to the AHL suggests that Alexey Marcheko is set to come off of IR before Friday’s game. Ouellet will head to Grand Rapids, where he had 16 points (1G / 15A) in 52 games a season ago.

Ouellet, 21, has been recalled because Brendan Smith is questionable with an arm injury. Oullet has scored twice and added one assist in 21 games with Detroit this season. While in Grand Rapids he has collected one goal and 10 assists (11 points) in 32 games.

Ouellet was a healthy scratch for the last three games, so he will head back to Grand Rapids to get some games in. Alexey Marchenko will stay with the team for now.

Ouellet made his NHL debut on Monday and was sent down yesterday, but has been recalled this morning after Niklas Kronwall took a puck to the face in the Red Wings gameday skate. Kronwall is expected to play, but Ouellet has been recalled as a precaution.

Ouellet impressed Red WIngs head coach Mike Babcock in his NHL debut. He played 17:15 and recorded one shot in the 1-0 shootout loss. Ouellet looks like he has a bright future ahead of him with the Red Wings.

With Jonathan Ericsson sitting with an injured shoulder, so the 20-year-old draws in. He is a solid two-way defenseman with a lot of offensive upside. He isn't fantasy relevant yet, but will be worth a look in a few years.
