Pontus Aberg traded to Minnesota

The struggling Anaheim Ducks have traded forward Pontus Aberg to the Minnesota Wild in exchange for forward Justin Kloos.

The Ducks have lost 12 straight games and have stated they are not considering firing head coach Randy Carlyle. 

Aberg is pointless and a minus-7 over his last 10 games. He’s recorded 11 goals and 19 points through 37 contests on the season.

The Swedish forward was a member of Anaheim’s man advantage and has been credited with three power-play tallies this season. The 25-year-old has some impressive hands and was tied for second in Ducks’ goal-scoring at the time of the trade.

Aberg was a second round pick (37th overall) of the Nashville Predators in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. He had two goals and five points during the team’s 2017 playoff run. Anaheim claimed the crafty forward off waivers from Edmonton on Oct. 1, 2018.

Aberg heads to Minnesota in exchange for the AHL forward Kloos.

The 25-year-old leads the Iowa Wild in scoring with 12 goals and 30 points through 34 games. He appeared in one game with the Wild last season, making his NHL debut on Oct. 24,  2017 vs. Vancouver. Kloos was signed by Minnesota as a free agent in March of 2017.
