The Philadelphia Flyers will be without defenseman Ryan Ellis for the foreseeable future.

According to Jordan Hall of NBC Sports Philadelphia, Ellis will miss the next four-to-six weeks with a lower-body injury.

Ellis originally got injured in the Flyers’ third game of the season and subsequently missed the team’s next nine games. He returned to the lineup on Saturday in Philadelphia’s loss to the Dallas Stars and re-aggravated the injury.

All told, Ellis has played in just four games for the Flyers this season. He has one goal and five points and is averaging 22:48 per night.

The Flyers acquired Ellis back in July from the Nashville Predators in exchange for young defender Philippe Myers and former No. 2 overall pick Nolan Patrick.

Rasmus Ristolainen, another defender the Flyers acquired during the off-season, will continue to see an expanded role in Ellis’ absence. Ristolainen has just three points in 12 games for the Flyers this season, a large drop for a defender who scored over 40 points for the Buffalo Sabres between 2015-16 and 2018-19.
