Ryan Miller Playing this Weekend?

Miller practiced at “full go” today according to the team’s local media. Afterword, MSG’s Bill Hoppe, via Twitter, explained coach Lindy Ruff would not rule him out for the weekend. Check back for an update right here and on our starting goalies page.

UPDATE 11/28/11: Ryan Miller stepped onto the ice for this morning which could be seen as the next step. According to John Vogl of The Buffalo News, via Twitter, Miller will join the team in tomorrow’s morning skate before taking part in a full practice Wednesday. Sounds like Miller will get back into game action at some point this season but beware of setbacks.

UPDATE 11/22/11: The rematch between the Buffalo Sabres and Boston Bruins is coming up with Miller still sidelined. When questioned by local media, coach Lindy Ruff continued to paint Miller’s progression in a positive light. From WGR 550:

“Ryan’s feeling better,” Ruff said. “Every day is a little bit different. I think you get in these situations and you really don’t know. You could have a bad night’s sleep and think it’s something else, so a lot of times it’s tough. He’s doing better. I talked to him on the way in and I talked to him on the way out. He’s in good spirits, and I think he’s progressing.”

Interpret that information for yourself. Almost two weeks after the incident and Miller has yet to step on the ice.

UPDATE 11/13/11: Miller has been diagnosed with a concussion and will be out indefinitely. If Jhonas Enroth is still available in your fantasy hockey league, add him now.

Ryan Miller left Saturday’s game with an undisclosed injury following a hit from Boston Bruins forward Milan Lucic.

Perhaps hit is an understatement. Lucic absolutely leveled the unsuspecting starting goalie with a shoulder check, sending his helmet flying and the Buffalo Sabres into fisticuffs. If you haven’t already seen the play, here’s a video for your auditory enjoyment:

Miller would not return to the game and would not discuss the injury with the team’s local media. However, he did chide off on how Lucic’s actions were disrespectful to the game of hockey and to the city of Boston. Something tells me that if it were a concussion, Miller would have made himself sparse after the game.

Check back later as we await an update on his status.
