You must enter your team before October 7th but make sure you choose wisely, because once the season starts, your team is locked in for the year! This draft is constructed with 21 boxes containing four players who’s production is similar. You have to choose one play from each box, giving you a team of 21 players.  If you need a little help deciding who to pick, I am here to help. Below I have listed FIVE players that I suggest staying away from in the DailyFaceoff Charity Draft. This will help narrow your choices down from FOUR to THREE in five of the 21 boxes! I have also listed my team! Lets see if you can beat me and earn the title of DailyFaceoff Fantasy Champ! Good Luck!

Five (5) players to stay away from:

1. Daniel Sedin – LW – Vancouver Canucks

This is an easy one for me. It is not a knock against Sedin, but rather a compliment to his competition. I have Sedin projected to get 68 points this season, which significantly less than the other three who I expect to be around the 80-point mark this season. Taylor Hall gets a big fantasy boost having Connor McDavid on his line, Vladimir Tarasenko proved to be one of the NHL’s most dynamic players last year and Ryan Getzlaf is basically a lock to crack 70-points with 85-90 point upside.

2. Jiri Hudler – RW – Calgary Flames

Hudler scored 31 goals with 45 assists (76 points) in 78 games last season. Being a near point-per-game player a year ago sees him coming into 2015-16 with high expectations. His previous career-high was 57 points, which is a more reasonable expectation from Hudler this year. Then when you look at him going up against Jonathan Toews, Zach Parise and Logan Couture…that’s a lot of competition.

3. Nick Foligno – LW – Columbus Blue Jackets

Foligno is in the same boat as Hudler, his breakout season means he gets stacked up against some tough competition. Foligno’s career high in junior hockey was 31 goals, so to see him score 31 with 42 assists last year was surprising…to say the least. This summer the Blue Jackets added Brandon Saad and Boone Jenner will be healthy this year—those two will eat into Foligno’s production, which was probably already on the decline anyways.

4. Kris Letang – D – Pittsburgh Penguins

The funny thing about Letang, is that if you could guarantee me that all four of these players were going to play in 82 games this season, I would probably take Letang. However, he has missed 102 games over the last four seasons and isn’t a safe bet to stay healthy this season.

5. Dennis Wideman – D – Calgary Flames

In the same box, I don’t like Wideman either. Which leaves you to choose between Tyson Barrie and Kevin Shattenkirk (if you listen to me of course). Wideman had a sensational season in 2014-15, scoring 15 goals with 41 assists (56 points) in 80 games. He’s had seasons like that in the past, but that kind of production is hard to bank on. Especially when you factor in that the Flames traded for Dougie Hamilton this summer—he will eat into some of Wideman’s power play time.
